String Gardens

"String gardens are a botanical technique meant to raise plants to eye level. Small moss balls called kokedama house the root system which is wrapped and then suspended by total awesomeness" (via Clossal)

I so want to make one of these...stay tuned. Plus they would be great decor for an event full of awesomeness!

Vandalized Vintage

Vandalized Vintage by Trixie Delicious is such a great concept to update and upcycle those old china plates. I can see using them for weddings place cards or even customize it with the date of the wedding. Either way the possibilities are endless. Trixie Delicious has takes another direction which my be offensive (so beware) to some but hey, that's art. Here's their 7 deadly sin plates.

Dahlia's

Dahlia's come in many shapes, sizes, and colors. They are a versatile flower and one of my personal favorites for this reason. I currently preparing for an October wedding and one thing that I do is see where I can source the best blooms. One source is Aztec Dahlia's in Petaluma. They have cut flowers you can buy or you can by the tuber and grow your own. Here is one of the varieties that I will be using, Boogie Nights.

Another place to go see these flowers is at the Dahlia Dell in Golden Gate Park which is also proof that you can grow these flowers that are native to Central and South America even in our foggy climate.

What about the trash?!

Trash is always and issue at any gathering. Where is the recycle? Where is the regular waste? What about compost? Well Hobnob from San Ramon has thought of a way to deal with all those questions in style, with their pop up party bins.

Handmade Dresses

I am a big Etsy fan and if you don't know about it you should explore the site {here}.  It is a community of artisans who make handmade goods as well as sell vintage goods. If you can't find something local at least you can buy from an individual artisan.

Which brings me to Sohomode. It is the shop of Louise Hedley a fashion designer and seamstress who uses vintage fabrics that she has collected over the years to make her beautiful clothes. At Sohomode she has a collection of tea dresses that are used for weddings, and look adorable.
